Capturing all those cool moments in life.
As a generally creative and visual kind of person, photography has always been on my radar. Over the years I've dabbled in all it's various forms, starting with the old manual Nikon with black and white film. I took photography in school, learned how to develop my own film and use the darkroom, and all along the idea of capturing images was intriguiing.
When computers and photoshop came along, it got even better. Now I could combine two interests together and create even more interesting results. Back in my high school days, Photoshop was still a rare beast, and I cleaned up at the student art shows with my digital manipulations.
Nowadays, I shoot with a Canon DSLR (and am drooling over the 7D) exclusively in RAW mode, and use Lightroom 2 from Adobe to do my management and retouching. It's a great combination. I've also experimented with HDR photography using the combo of Lightroom and Photomatix, and the results can be really interesting.
I'm no pro, but do really enjoy taking cool shots. Along with all the family photogrpahy you'll see on other pages here, landscapes and details in nature are probably my top choices. Here's a few samples I particularly like, and you can always visit my Flickr page via the button at the top of the screen to see other images.
Just a few of my most favorite sites, in no particular order.
