Apple makes good stuff. Yes, it may cost you a touch more upfront, but it really is worth it. The latest computers from Apple are probably the best machines on earth. You can run the excellent and fast Mac OS X, you can run Windows 7 flawlessly, you can run Linux if you are a geek. You can run all three at the same time. The Mac does things easily and seamlessly, for professional and personal uses.
Toss in an iPhone and you've got an efficient electronic ecosystem that works beautifully together. I've been using the Mac on a daily basis since 1989 and they really are the best they've ever been. Right now I have a Macbook, and for a web developer it's totally ideal. I do most of my work on the Mac, but have XP and Win7 running for testing. I can hit all the browsers, I have a native Apache web server on baord for testing, and everything just works.
Give into the mothership. Feed on the reality distortion field. Lick it. It will make you happy in the end.

Just in case you are interested. I've won a couple Adobe MAX Awards for eLearning too.
